It can reach a maximum height and diameter of 12 inches. Mature Melocactus is characterised by a fuzzy or bristly cap that forms at the top called a cephalium. Little pink or red blooms and, eventually, fruit are produced by this structure. Indirect sunshine is ideal for Melocactus growth. This plant can also withstand direct sunlight. Do not overwater this plant because it can damage the plant's roots. It is vulnerable to frost and prefers warm weather. It ought to be stored at or above 50°F. During the growing season, fertilise using a diluted cactus fertiliser.

It is an eye-catching ornamental plant for homes and offices because of its distinctive form and cephalium. The particular maintenance requirements of the Melocactus are doable for novice and expert gardeners.
